(1978) Robbie Basho - Visions Of The Country
Review: This is the most beloved album of Robbie and for good reasons. It is his most accessible, and it was reissued. Though not my favourite, this is a stunning album. It has a lot more instruments than usual, but they never take the focus away from the mesmerising guitar play. Robbie is a true genius, capable of crafting very expiramental, but still lovely, songs and ragas. Some people find his voice off-putting, and he is not my favourite vocalist either. But the vocals do bring a nice contrast. It is a shame that Robbie is still so unknown, even though he had a small revival not too long ago. If you want some guitar music, this is a very good place to start, and then move on to Venus in Cancer and/or Song Of The Stallion.
