Simon Cheng – Former employee of UK Consulate, Hong Kong One year ago, massive street protests began in Hong Kong. Beijing was rattled by the strength of the pro-democracy movement. HARDtalk’s Stephen Sackur speaks to Simon Cheng, an employee of the British consulate in Hong Kong who was arrested last year in mainland China and, he says, interrogated and physically abused. A year on, Mr Cheng is seeking asylum in the UK and China is about to impose a new national security law in Hong Kong. Will anything stop Beijing imposing its will on Hong Kong?
