Café del Mar was inaugurated on 20th June 1980 on the island of Ibiza in the town of San Antonio de Portmany.
The collections of the music played at the café were first sold on cassette at the end of the eighties. In 1994, the English company React published the first “Café del Mar” CD, which included works by world-renowned artists such as Underworld, A Man Called Adam, Stelle, Tabula Rasa, etc.
