Ella Fitzgerald è ancora probabilmente la cantante maggiormente associata a Gershwin ,
ma questo album di Chris Connor è pienamente degno del confronto con Gershwin/Fitzgerald.
La Connor gestisce con la sua calda voce i brani più leggeri come "Slap That Bass" e "Little Jazzbird"
con stile e intelligenza, mentre ballate come "A Foggy Day" o "Our Love Is Here to Stay " appaiono sobrie ma vivaci.
I suoi accompagnatori sono molti nomi ben noti
come Hank Jones, Joe Newman, Al Cohn, Joe Puma, Herbie Mann, Jaki Byard, Kenny Burrell e Milt Jackson.
