David Banner's first vinyl outing. Outstanding smooth crunk baby. I’ve decided to shine the light on the one & only Crooked Lettaz album, 'Grey Skies'. Before Banner was a huge star from hits like “Like A Pimp” and producing T.I.’s “Rubberband Man,” he was part of Crooked Lettaz with emcee Kamikaze. After signing to Penalty Records, the Mississippi duo released their debut Grey Skies. Kamikaze’s lyrical prowess is undeniable on the LP and blends well with Banner’s intense delivery. The production is smooth as could be, with Banner injecting the right amount of Southern funk for a winning formula. Kamikaze & David Banner knew when to use humor (“Daydreamin”) and when to take a serious tone (“Tupelo”). As they allude to on “South’s On My Mind,” these two were one of, if not the first to give Mississippi a voice in hip hop. Grey Skies is truly a must listen for all hip hop fans. Although out of print, the internet has let it live on. Having said that, It took me ages to find this, and I almost resorted to digitising my own vinyl! Thankfully I didn't have to. Please seed this torrent as the album is out of print.
