Emmylou Harris (born April 2, 1947) is an American singer and songwriter. She has released many popular albums and singles over the course of her career, and has receive 13 Grammy awards as of 2014. She has received numerous other honors amoung which include: Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year from the Country Music Association; VH1's 100 Most Influential Women in Rock and Roll (1998) - Number 22 out of 100; and CMT's 40 Greatest Women of Country Music - No. 5 ranking (2002). Emmylou was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on February 12, 2008.
Her work and recordings include work as a solo artist, bandleader, an interpreter of other composers' works and as a singer-songwriter, and a backing vocalist and duet partner. She has worked with numerous leading artists including Gram Parsons, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, The Band, Mark Knopfler, Delbert McClinton, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, Rodney Crowell, John Prine, Neil Young, Nick Cave and Steve Earle.
