Great album IMO-- this one expands the basic folk of her first-- but in a good way-- very nice arrangements, esp. on the more
trad. ones like "O Death" (amazing performance IMO) & "Johnny
Come Down to Hilo." & her take on Carolyn Hall's "Thanks Just the Same"--- brilliant song-- as strong or more so than CH's. In a way, Smith (& Hall too) are a return to the pristine sound of early '60's Joan Baez & Judy Collins, with some elements recalling Pentangle. But especially Smith is very contemporary too. One of the best albums of the year I think. (Amazon review)
