My Blu-Ray rips are always taken DIRECTLY from the actual blu-rays, not re-encodings of an earlier h264 torrent, and not "filled in" with web downloads. HEVC is a superb machine, but it should be given quality raw materials.
This is my HEVC 10 Bit 2pass high quality 1080p rip of season four of Gomorra (known as Gomorrah to English speaking channels).
I used x265.exe to create a VBR in 2 passes. I initially set the average bandwidth at 1200kbps and set a maximum quantizer which has the effect of raising the average bandwidth up to around 1700kbps in one case.
The maximum bandwidth varies from each episode; for episode 1 it's 10587kbps (at 00:36:22 - a quick viewing will show why that part of the episode needed so much).
Below is a screen grab of the bitrate for episode 1.
I used the "slower" preset settings; each episode required about 18 hours to encode both passes.
The short sample was taken DIRECTLY from episode 7; I encoded the episode in two parts, then used FFMPEG to join those parts (without re-encoding). The first 50 seconds of the second part was chopped (again, using FFMPEG) to produce the sample, with no re-encoding.
The audio is AAC 5.1 at 384 kbps.
The English, Italiano, Français and Español subtitles are included (soft coded into each mkv). The SRT files are also included.
Enjoy, and please, please, continue to seed after you have downloaded. Please click on a screenshot to view the full 1920 x 1080 version.
