Lazy Lester All Over You Released:1999

Louisiana's own Lazy Lester blows with rowdy abandon on All Over You. Ably supported by a group of Austin's finest, including bassist Sarah Brown, drummer Mike Buck and guitarists Sue Foley and Derek O'Brien, the 66-year-old High Sheriff of the Blues shows touches of Jimmy Reed's vocal delivery, particularly on "You're Gonna Ruin Me Baby" and Reed's own "The Sun Is Shining," while also flaunting some slick Little Walter licks on harp. For a change of pace, he picks up guitar and deals in a deep blue Delta bag on stark, unaccompanied renditions of "Nothing but the Devil" and "My Home Is a Prison." The band sets a comfortable tone throughout the album as Lester wails effortlessly on top. An infectious, easy-grooving session that generated more than a few sparks.
