My enjoyment of this CD grows with each listen. Maddy's voice is appealing and strong, with accompaniment that makes even the traditional songs sound fresh. The highlight for me is the Todd Rundgren song "Honest Work", sung from the point of view of a person who has lost their job and is slipping downward. This song segues into a bagpipe version of a melody from Sibelius' "Finlandia." The two together are heartbreaking and beautiful. I was mainly familiar with Maddy Prior from the early Steeleye Span days and the two Silly Sisters CDs with June Tabor. Now that I have heard this and loved it, I am going to go after some more of her more recent material too.
