Operation Babylift

On 4 April 1975, MAC 80218, a US Air Force Military Airlift Command Lockheed C-5A Galaxy, in the process of conducting the inaugural flight of Operation Babylift, suffers explosive decompression and crashes into a paddy field while attempting an emergency landing at Tan Son Nhut air base in South Vietnam. (This is only the second C-5A that had been lost in flight operations to this date, and, currently, the worst air disaster in US Airforce history.)
