Sally woont tijdelijk op Wilgul totdat ze weer zelf terug kan reizen naar Melbourne. Nick wordt door z'n vader gedwongen ook op Wilgul te wonen en laat Tess achter. Enkele weken later vertrekt Sally en langzaam trekken Nick en Tess weer naar elkaar toe. Ze gaan weer samenwonen en worden weer een echt koppel. Jodi krijgt veel te verduren als haar vriend Luke undercover moet gaan bij een gang, maar zelf uiteindelijk ook achter de tralies belandt. Regan McLeod, de nicht van Tess arriveert op Drovers. Ze lijkt geen goede bedoelingen te hebben wanneer ze ontdekt dat er goud onder de grond van Drovers ligt. Ze krijgt een relatie met Dave, die haar als enige steunt in het opgraven van het goud. Tess, Stevie, Jodi en Kate doen er alles aan om haar weg te jagen. Wanneer Regan gebeten wordt door een slang, leggen de nichtjes de strijdbijl neer en Regan vertrekt.
Nick krijgt een baan aangeboden in Argentinië voor enkele maanden en vertrekt. Enkele dagen later volgt Tess, wetend dat haar boerderij voorlopig in goede handen is bij Stevie, Jodi en Kate. Bij Killarney wordt een nieuwe opzichter geplaatst, nu Nick weg is. Zijn naam is Rob Shelton en hoewel Jodi eerst gecharmeerd is van zijn uiterlijk, krabbelt ze al snel terug. Rob stelt zich op als een vreemde loner die liever niet met iemand in contact komt. Jodi viert haar 21e verjaardag en krijgt een enveloppe van Jack McLeod, ingesteld op die datum. Hierin zit een erkenning voor Jodi van maar liefst $ 100.000 dollar. Jodi komt erachter dat er een mogelijkheid is dat Jack haar vader is en keert naar Rob voor steun als dit zo blijkt te zijn. Drama arriveert wanneer Tess terug komt, met Nick een dag later op de planning. Echter, hoewel iedereen blij is wegens Tess zwangerschap, slaat de vreugde om in verdriet wanneer blijkt dat Nicks vliegtuig is neergestort en er geen overlevenden zijn. Tess kan maar moeilijk omgaan met de dood van Nick. Het seizoen eindigt met Jodi die een slapende Tess vertelt dat ze zusjes zijn, terwijl Tess droomt over Nick in het ziekenhuis.
Toen Bridie Carter, die Tess McLeod speelt, eind seizoen 5 aankondigde de serie te verlaten, werden enkele afleveringen opnieuw opgenomen. Dit keer werden haar dromen over Nick erin verwerkt, zodat Nick begin seizoen 6 kon terugkeren en uiteindelijk met Tess naar Argentinië kon vertrekken.

Struggling to deal with the continued presence of Sally, the mother of Nick's newborn child, Harrison, Tess throws herself into various preparations for an upcoming Wool Board Expo. She places all her hopes for a successful Expo showing for Drovers in a sheep named the Colonel, and their plans to create a new line in organic wool with his progeny - plans which are placed in jeopardy when the Colonel develops a serious infection. Jodi is very excited about the event - she has been selected to model some creations by a local fashion designer. Stevie, who at the last minute is also asked to model, is less enthusiastic - she's a stranger to high heels, and even more so to parading her stuff down a catwalk. Kate's put out that she's not been asked to walk the carpet, but has her own pet project to present at the Expo - sheep coats, designed to improve quality and yield. Jodi gets caught out in a deception of her own when a local cop, Dan, issues Kate with a speeding fine incurred whilst her car was on loan - to Jodi, with Luke driving. Kate is hurt by the betrayal and lack of trust. Jodi has confessed the real reason she didn't ask Kate to model was an unfortunate incident at a party once when Kate trod on a dress and ripped it - yet Kate trusted Jodi sufficiently to loan her her car, with that trust subsequently betrayed. During a dry run for the fashion parade, it is Jodi who accidentally steps on Stevie's dress and rips it, forcing her to seek Kate's help, the only one who can use the sewing machine. Kate reveals her insecurities about her looks compared with Jodi, who finally understands why it was so important that Kate not be overlooked as a model. Also during the parade rehearsal, events come to an explosive head when Nick feels compelled to come clean with Tess. The others go on to the Expo without them, and Nick and Tess have a long and honest talk about their situation and come to the painful conclusion that it is best they part for a while, in order that Nick can continue seeing Harrison without causing Tess further pain. They part in sorrow, with Nick moving back into the Boys Cottage, and Tess again the head of an all-female household. Returning from the Expo, the girls try to cheer up Tess with their good news - the fashion show was a hit, Kate has received a Young Farmer's Award for the sheep coats. But at the end of the day, it's Stevie's friendship for which Tess is grateful most of all, and we know that Tess will move on with grit and her ever-present optimism.
