Record of Lodoss War, anche conosciuto come "Cronaca della guerra di Lodoss", è un universo fantasy ideato dallo scrittore giapponese Ryo Mizuno e composto da romanzi, manga, serie animate e videogiochi. La Cronaca della guerra di Lodoss nasce come racconto ispirato ai diari di gioco di una campagna di Dungeons & Dragons, di cui Mizuno era il dungeon master. Il racconto fu pubblicato sulla rivista giapponese per computer Comptiq dal 1986. Questa tipologia di messa in prosa dei diari di gioco venne ribattezzata "replay" (simili alle light novel) e precedette i romanzi che lo stesso Mizuno scrisse per la casa editrice Kadokawa Shoten a partire dal 1988. In Italia l'universo della guerra di Lodoss è conosciuto in particolare per la prima serie animata (OAV) del 1990, la serie televisiva presente ne è il sequel.
Cinque anni dopo la morte dell'imperatore di Marmo durante la "Guerra degli eroi" (gli eventi raccontati nella prima serie OAV), Parn è diventato un importante libero cavaliere di Lodoss, ed i suoi storici alleati hanno conquistato fama in tutto il regno. Tuttavia, Ashram, braccio destro dell'imperatore defunto, è alla ricerca dello scettro del dominio, che gli permetterà di prendere il comando dell'isola di Lodoss. Le sue azioni sembrano far presagire il risveglio della dea della morte e della distruzione. Parn, Deedlit e gli altri dovranno ritornare a combattere per la salvezza di Lodoss, stavolta aiutati da un nuovo gruppo di eroi.

Record of Lodoss War, also known as "Lodoss Island War Chronicle", is an universe fantasy conceived by the Japanese writer Ryo Mizuno and composed by novels, manga, animate series and video games. The Chronicle of the war of Lodoss is born as a story inspired to the diaries of game Dungeons & Dragons, of which Mizuno was the dungeon master. The story was published on the Japanese magazine for computer Comptiq from 1986. This typology of mass in prose of the diaries of game was rechristened "replay" (similar to the lights novel) before of the novels that the same Mizuno wrote for the publishing house Kadokawa Shoten beginning from 1988. The universe of the war of Lodoss is known particularly for the first animated series (OAV) of 1990, the present television series is the sequel of it.
Five years after the death of the Emperor of Marmo in the War of Heroes, Parn is now the Free Knight of Lodoss, he and his old allies now famous through the land. However, the Emperor's right-hand-man, Ashram, seeks the scepter of domination to re-unify Lodoss under his former leader's banner. Meanwhile, beyond his attempts at conquest lies a more sinister force beginning to set the stage for the resurrection of the goddess of death and destruction.
