Here are some FLAC rips from this legendary tuner which back in the late 1990's retailed for circa $3000. It is well known for having a sound that no tuner has any right to have-sounding liquid, dynamic and tonally full with tons of microdetails. One track compares using the 17 element dedicated FM antenna with a 5m length of speaker wire-that also pulls in a full strength signal, but the multi-element antenna just 'sounds' so much better.
These rips were sourced from two of the best sounding FM stations I have ever heard, WSMC (classical) and WUTC (eclectic/jazz) located in Chattanooga, TN. The antenna was aligned with the stations that were only about 15 miles from away.
There were a few small mods done to this tuner-mainly the output caps were bypassed with some high quality Teflons, as were the power supply filter caps.
AC power was pure balanced via a huge 10kVA transformer. The tuner head unit was positioned on a Sonority roller shelf and fed directly into the input of the CD-recorder via some Chord Cobra 2 cable.
