Refreshed and Renewed! Freshly polished inside and out for 2019 ... and beyond.
Release: ROKCDR030
This is an A- (or a critical B+) audience recording, transferred from the master tape, of Roky Erickson backed by a group called Cornerstone from a show at the Continental Club in Austin, TX on May 21, 1984. Supposedly Roky played with Cornerstone for a very short time, less than a year, and this is the first recording of this lineup to be offered through the Roky CD club. Here is the track list:
Length: 57:57
01. Introduction
02. Red Temple Prayer (Two Headed Dog)
03. Don't Shake Me Lucifer
04. Night of the Vampire
05. Don't Slander Me
06. Cold Night for Alligators
07. You're Gonna Miss Me
08. The Beast
09. I Think of Demons
10. Red Temple Prayer (Two Headed Dog) (with Brian Curley (bass) of Evil Hook Wildlife E.T.)
The second version of "Two Headed Dog" features a guest appearance by Brian Curley of Evil Hook Wildlife E.T. fame. Regretfully, his bass is mixed way too much up front, but the mix on the rest of the recording is fine. The band is tight (if IMO the lead guitar is a bit over the top at times) and Roky sings with conviction.
