Notes about AC3 v/s DTS

I regularly receive PM like this :
Dear Sir,
its very hard to download and store of 1080P due to space unavailable it would great helpful if u encode all bdrip with 720p with DTS, Pls don' t mind its my small suggestion..
Thanks in advance User
DTS tracks is huge in size and if added to 2H30m plus runtime movie, then a big compromise must be done on the video bitrate to fit this in 4.4 Gbytes size file.
Lesser bitrate to video means lesser quality of picture. What ever you do, or however you encode, even doing 1000 passes, low bitrates will ALWAYS = Lesser Image PQ on an HDTV or even 27 " PC monitor or ipad or hand-held.
I hate doing poor quality rips. Thus when its possible to put DTS in 720P I do it with at least 3 Mbps for video.
Or else I drop the DTS and replace with AC3 @ 640 Kbps
For your info:
AC3 640 Kbps is nearly the same thing for 90 % of people on earth as DTS 1510 Kbps.
Only diff you will notice in dynamics but you must have a High end audio setup to feel the difference. This is due mainly cuz of the 24 bits depth audio in DTS v/s 16 bits in AC3. And ofcourse it depends on the original sound track quality.
Fake DTS will be as poor as AC3, no diff.
Excellent DTS is way better.
But bollywood very rarely have good DTS.
