AI Upscale of Star Trek DS9, Season 7 to 1080p+
The source file is first upscaled to 4K and then processed with HEVC x265 down to 1080p. Due to diminishing returns (the source files are in 480p) the 1080p+ files look nearly identical to the direct-to-4K upscales, but take up significantly less space.
Don't expect any of these episodes to look like a native remaster. The Upscaling makes the video look more crisp & less noisy, while characters & ships tend to look more well defined. However, due to imperfections in the DVD-ripped files, there are some conversion artifacts that pop up here and there; these are particularly common in the Season 1-3 upscales. Audio synchronization is sometimes imperfect; this is due to the fact that the original source has different framerates for different scenes, which was common in 90's TV shows, and had to be converted to a constant framerate (CFR) prior to the upscaling.
