The Return of Kumar Sanu! Get ready to experience the magic of 90s again
This reply is for them who think that KS was charging lesser than UN and SN.
While receiving 1995 Filmfare best male playback singer Kumar Sanu just said that if this award is given to a new singer next year he would be very happy. It was misinterpreted by Media and rumors was spread in air that Kumar Sanu rejected the award. And if you research more then you will find that Sanu did not get award because Yash Chopra was not happy with Kumar Sanu and he did not recommend his name even though “Tujhe dekha to yeh” was the most popular song of that year. The reason being Kumar Sanu demanded xx amount of money per song from YRF (same what other producers were paying to Sanu at DDLJ time) which Yashji did not like. Yashji was of opinion that YRF is big brand and singers should take minimal or no money for the songs. After Tujhe dekha to yeh jana sanam of DDLJ, Kumar sanu's next movie with YRF was Dum Laga ke haisha after 19 years of gap which is after death of Yash Chopra. Udit Narayan on the other hand utilized this opportunity to sing songs of YRF movie for very less amount and in favour he got Filmfare award in 1996 for relatively less popular song - Mehndi laga ke rakhna than Sanu's Tujhe dekha to yeh jana sanam.
This is not the only thing, Kumar Sanu was also not singing for BHAIS of bollywood those days and he often used to refuse them for their shows if not paid enough. His contemporaries then took that as an opportunity and exploit the situation and in return they got awards and good banners movies and thus KS was being rejected. Just watch this song, an unreleased song of Dil To Pagal Hai, if all were well this would have been the 7th or 8th Filmfare award for KS after DDLJ. |
