WATERMELON SLIM & THE WORKERS NO PAID HOLIDAYS Release Date June 2008
Recorded at Bell Lab Studio in Norman, Ok - November, 2007
Format:Flac
Watermelon Slim emerged as a major player on the blues scene in the mid-2000s. Backed by his hard-hitting band, the Workers, he spins out a sound that's full of grit and twang, and is undeniably roots-conscious, but never seems retro or imitative. He has a quirky vocal style that might be an acquired taste, but over the course of NO PAID HOLIDAYS, he lets loose on everything from shuffles to funk grooves to locomotive boogie with a brashness that's equaled by his obvious passion for the blues.
